Temporary restrictions on the roads of Belarus in 2022

Temporary restrictions on the roads of Belarus in 2022

In the spring and summer of 2022, certain norms for the load on the axles of vehicles will apply on republican roads.

The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Belarus published a resolution dated February 25, 2022 No. 3 “On the introduction in 2022 of temporary restrictions on axle loads of vehicles, self-propelled vehicles”, which contains a list of roads and sections for which limits are introduced.

During the spring period (March 25 - April 20), the load on a single axle should not exceed 9 tons.

During the summer period (May 23 - August 31) from 11.00 to 20.00 at a daytime air temperature of more than 25 degrees Celsius, the load limit will be 6 tons.

However, not all vehicles fall under the new regulation. The restrictions do not apply to the following vehicles:

  • carrying passengers, live animals, flowers, humanitarian aid, medicines, mail, dairy products, grain, animal feed, seed stock, fertilizers and other goods specified in the order;
  • involved in the construction and repair of roads;
  • involved in the elimination of emergencies and accidents;
  • agricultural wheeled tractors.

In addition, in the spring, the presence of a special permit allows you to exceed the allowable standards for some types of vehicles, namely:

  • importing and exporting goods of the states that are members of the Eurasian Economic Union;
  • set off from outside the territory of the Republic of Belarus until March 25, 2021 inclusive (the driver must have documents confirming that he started driving during this period);
  • transporting goods between settlements located within a radius of not more than 50 kilometers from the republican highways along the route.
