On September 2, 2023, the system of international auto insurance "Blue Card" between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation began to operate.
The Belarusian Transport Insurance Bureau and the Russian Union of Motor Insurers concluded an agreement on "Blue Card" as early as June 1, 2023, when the membership of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation in the "Green Card" system was suspended.
The new system establishes rules similar to the previous ones, except for some provisions. Settlements will now be made in national currencies rather than in euros.
Such a joint decision will create equal opportunities for Belarusian and Russian carriers and will have a favorable impact on the development of the entire transport and logistics system of the Union State.
Until January 1, 2024, auto insurance policies can be issued on the old forms, while afterwards car owners in Belarus and Russia will be issued Blue Card forms.
